LONDON: Cricket legend Younis Khan has said he is proud and honoured to have served Pakistan alongside Misbah-ul-Haq – the most successful captain in the country’s history.
Looking over the Lord’s Cricket Ground, in an exclusive interview to Geo News, Younis said he felt honoured to have ended his international cricket career with a historic victory against the West Indies alongside Misbah.
“It is an honour to have crossed the 10,000 runs barrier and secured a historic win in the Caribbean in my last ever series. Most importantly, I feel proud to have served my country with Misbah. Our careers started at around the same time, we went through good and bad times together for over 15 years,” Younis said.
About his most cherished cricketing memories, the ‘Mard-e-Buhran’ said his first ever international runs against Sri Lanka in Karachi in 2000, his first ever Test century and Pakistan’s T20 World Cup victory at Lord’s in 2009 remain the highlights of his career.
Younis added he has plans to continue serving his country and humanity in whatever capacity he can.
“I want to help humanity in whichever way I can. I aspire to live and die like Abdul Sattar Edhi,” he said.
