Hussain Nawaz expresses reservation over two JIT members

Nawaz has raised impartiality concerns on the representatives of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and State Bank of Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s son Hussain Nawaz has expressed reservations over two members of the Joint Investigation Team - mandated by Supreme Court to probe the assets of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family.

Nawaz has raised impartiality concerns on the representatives of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and State Bank of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday has also admitted a petition filed by Hussain Nawaz in which he raised an objection to the inclusion of Amir Aziz of SBP and Bilal Rasool of SECP in the JIT.

A special bench of the Supreme Court will hear the petition on Monday (May 29).

Nawaz has alleged that the members of having political connections and demanded the Supreme Court to replace them for transparent and unbiased investigation.

The plea says these two JIT members have links with former President of Pakistan General (R) Pervez Musharraf and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). It was pleaded that the request should be heard by the five-member bench in the Panama case.

Earlier, the federal government expressed reservations over the proceedings of the Joint Investigation Team on Panama Leaks case.


Speaking to journalists Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz leader Talal Chaudhry said that the Prime Minister will exercise all his rights which he voluntarily withdrew from the Supreme Court's proceedings.

He added that the government has conveyed its reservations in the Supreme Court but will not like to talk about it in the public.

“We hold the right to exercise the constitutional rights which are given to every Pakistani citizen. We hope that the Supreme Court's JIT will not apply different laws for Nawaz Sharif. We didn’t take immunity before neither now,” adding, “Hasan and Husain Nawaz should be given the rights which are enjoyed by any non-residential Pakistani.”
