'Terrorist' killed in Kohat shootout

A police official was injured when suspected terrorists attacked police team

KOHAT: A suspected terrorist was killed in a police encounter on Samari Road, Kohat Thursday morning, said the police.

According to the police, they conducted an operation in the area upon receiving a tip-off. Subsequently, terrorists present in the area attacked the police team with hand grenades.

In retaliatory fire, one of the terrorists, Inamullah, was killed while a police official was also injured in the crossfire, informed an official.

The deceased Inamullah was said to be involved in the attack on a police van on May 20 in which four policemen, including a station house officer, were killed.

According to police, Lachi SHO Khanullah had led a police team to Kamal Khel for the arrest of wanted criminals. The police team, in four vehicles, was returning whey they came under attack by terrorists in Mohsin Khel.

As a consequence, Khanullah, Additional SHO Tahir Mahmood and constables Abid and Tanvir Ali were killed on the spot.
