Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said he has never done anything illegal nor has he ever been served a tax notice.

In a series of messages on Twitter, the PTI chief said ‘whether the Supreme Court investigates or forms a Joint Investigation Team in my case [of his Bani Gala home’s land purchase], they can only come to one conclusion: that he bought the London flat from taxed legitimate cricket earnings in 1983, sold it in 2003 and brought back the funds via legitimate banking channels.’ He added that he paid for the purchase of the Bani Gala property from these earned funds remitted back to Pakistan.

‘Was taxpayer in UK for 20 years; been a taxpayer in Pakistan since 1981. Never have I done anything illegal, nor have I ever been served a tax notice,’ said Khan.

He predicted that in contrast, the JIT [formed to probe the Panama case verdict] will find Nawaz Sharif guilty of tax evasion, money laundering and perjury [over the Qatari letter] while he was the prime minister.

In the end, the PTI chief said “Those who think I am playing with fire & might get disqualified, it will be a small price to pay to rid Pak of corruption mafias' Godfather.”
