HYDERABAD: With continuing power outages in nearly every city across country, police in Hyderabad have cracked down on youth playing night cricket in the streets illuminated through illegal connections.

Citizens in a number of cities have long been playing street cricket before Sehri during Ramazan. However, in most of the cases the streets are lit through illegal connections commonly referred to as 'Kundas'.

But continuing power outages drew authorities' attention toward the pilferage of electricity for these night cricket matches. The law enforcers in Hyderabad cracked down on youngsters playing street cricket on Wednesday night.

They smashed bulbs on wires hanging across in various streets and confiscated bats and other items from players.
