A picture of Hussain Nawaz waiting before a session with the Joint Investigation Team in the Federal Judicial Academy in Islamabad has gone viral on social media, raising questions as to who leaked the photo.
The prime minister’s son has been appearing before the JIT, which had been tasked by the Supreme Court in its Panama case verdict to probe the prime minister’s financial dealings abroad. Hussain has said multiple times in media talks that he is made to wait for two-three hours by the JIT.
The federal government has voiced reservations over leaking of the picture of the premier's son describing it as "humiliating and regretful".
In a statement issued to media, State Minister for Information Marriyum Auangzeb said, "The way the picture is leaked is humiliating and regretful". She said the leaking of the image was also against investigation procedures.
The minister said the "continuity of unjust incidents points to victimisation, which is casting doubts."
Twitterati including politicians and known personalities shared the picture, with some questioning how the picture taken from the CCTV camera of the building got leaked. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers defended the premier’s son while asking how the picture got leaked.
Hussain Nawaz has appeared four times before the JIT, with sessions ranging from two-six hours. The prime minister’s younger son Hassan Nawaz has also appeared before the team. Hussain has reiterated in media talks that he will appear before the team as many times as summoned.
