FAISALABAD: Two protestors and a police constable sustained injuries during a clash between law enforcers and college students here at Jaranwala road on Friday.
According to college sources, a large number of students belonging to Municipal Degree College and Government College of Commerce boycotted classes and staged a demonstration. They were protesting against the police handedness against the protesting students in Lahore, and demanded taking back the decision to make BoGs in 26 colleges of Punjab.
The students belonging to two colleges blocked Jaranwala road by burning tyres and erecting blockades.
The police resorted to baton charge to disperse the demonstrators, but the students put up severe resistance and pelted stones at the police.
During this clash, two students and a police constable received injuries while a number of vehicles including motorcycles and vans were damaged.
On receiving information, the police high-ups rushed to the spot. They brought the situation under control through negotiations with teachers and students' leaders. The protestors dispersed after these efforts.
