RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the training centre of the army’s elite commando unit — Special Services Group (SSG) — at Tarbela.

The army chief witnessed the completion of an eight-week-long counter terrorism training course of a special forces battalion of the Nigerian army. The Nigerian contingent comprised 440 trainees, including 26 officers.

The COAS appreciated the standard of training imparted at the SSG centre, as well as the results attained by the trainee contingent. The army chief also said that terrorism is a menace that requires a collective response.

“Pakistan Army has a vast experience of counter terrorism (CT) operations as well as modern training facilities and is happy to play a part in enabling CT response of multiple friendly countries,” said Gen Bajwa, according to a statement by the Inter Services Public Relations.
