KARACHI: Three suspects were shot dead late Friday night during an alleged police encounter here in Shah Latif Town, Geo News reported.

According to police, the suspects were engaged in looting citizens when they reached the crime scene and were killed during an exchange of gunfire. Weapons, cash, and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspects, security officials added.

Major operation in Shah Faisal

22 suspects were taken into custody during a search operation carried out in the metropolis’ Shah Faisal Colony on Friday night, the area’s superintendent of police (SP) said, adding that they include seven fugitives and two motorcycle thieves.

According to SP Shah Faisal, 12 TT pistols, submachine guns (SMGs), hand grenades, cash, and mobile phones were recovered from the arrestees.

On the other hand, during an operation conducted in Karachi’s Nazimabad area, one suspect was detained by the police, who added that the arrestee was allegedly involved in street crimes and selling drugs.

As per SP Gulberg, weapons and contraband were also taken into custody from the suspect.

Two fugitives, including one woman, were also detained in the same area, police said, adding that cases had been registered against the arrestees earlier in Nazimabad police station.

In a similar operation carried out in Korangi, police held four suspects, which included foreigners as well. Security officers explained that weapons, contraband, and a motorcycle were recovered from the arrestees.

The recovered motorcycle was reportedly stolen from SITE area, police added.
