Customs seizes over 1,200kg of smuggled goods

Items include Indian milk, CDs and cigarettes; market value at Rs6 million

RAWALPINDI: The anti-smuggling cell of the Customs department seized 1,225kg worth of smuggled items from a bus in an operation in Dhudial, Chakwal on Sunday.

A statement by the Customs department said the confiscated items include Indian milk, 0.1 million CDs as well as 60,000 cigarettes, among other items. The market value of the seized goods is said to be Rs6 million.

One person has been arrested while the bus has also been seized by Customs officials.

Officials said the bus had originated from Peshawar and was going to deliver the goods somewhere in Punjab.

On receiving intelligence about the smuggling bid, Customs teams stopped the bus near Balkasar but it sped away and was finally stopped in Dhudial.
