LAHORE: Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry said that no one should remain under the impression that they were elected with mere votes, adding that the lawyers played a big role in this regard.
Addressing a reception hosted in his honour by Lahore Bar in Session Court Lahore, Chief Justice said he had vowed not to accept any pressure after he was appointed as judge which ultimately led to his transfer, as a punishment, to Multan bench where he had to serve for three and a half years.
He urged judges of lower courts to pass judgment of life imprisonment and capital punishment after due deliberation.
President of Lahore Bar Sajid Bashir and Vice-Chairman of Punjab Bar Council Mumtaz Mustafa also addressed the reception.
Earlier, Chief Justice LHC was warmly welcomed upon his arrival and given guard of honour.
