LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah alleged on Thursday that the Supreme Court's constituted Joint Investigation Team probing Sharif family transgressed their mandate as it threatened the summoned witnesses.

He said that the JIT is fighting virtually with every institution of the country, further adding that the popular political leadership cannot be separated from the masses.

Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appeared before the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for questioning.

Speaking to the media outside the Federal Judicial Academy, he said “I have told the JIT my point of view.” All documents related to my assets, though already with the Supreme Court, have been provided to the JIT now, he added.

Giving the PTI`s reaction, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said If the prime minister is confident that the public is with him, he should immediately tender his resignation and let elections be called.

"The ground and horse both are here," Chaudhry said.

Also present at the news conference, PTI's Asad Umar said the prime minister was showing as if he did a huge favour by appearing before the JIT. He added Nawaz did not appear by himself, but did so as he was asked to do it.

While talking about the prime minister's statements, Umar said what Nawaz said the assembly and the court differed.
