RAWALPINDI: District Coordination Officer (DCO) Rawalpindi Imdad Ullah Bosal, on Saturday imposed section 144 Cr. P.C in revenue limits of district Rawalpindi.

Under the section gathering of five or more persons is prohibited at public place except funeral processions, Muharram processions and prayer congregations in mosques, imam bargahs and recognized places of worship.

The section banned speeches, raising of slogans and making any visible sign of representation, which may incite feelings of masses.

The order prohibits taking out processions and holding of public meetings, except Muharram processions and majalis.

The use of loudspeakers, tape recorders and record players at public places has also been prohibited except for Azan and Arabic khutba during jumma prayers.

Distribution of objectionable literature/material, affixing of posters, wall chalking of any kind and carrying of placards of any nature which may incite and injure religious feelings of any sect, group or political party were banned.

The display or carrying of arms, other lethal weapons and fire crackers has also been prohibited under this order.

The entry of ulema and zakirs in the district who fall in the category of fanatic/activist elements shall also be prohibited in the revenue limits of the district.

However, Gazetted officers and public servants are allowed to carry firearms on duty, police, military personnel in uniform, chowkidars and guards employed by government, semi government, registered mills, factories and banks for the purpose of guard duty at their respective places of duty will be exempted from this order.

Similarly, this order shall not apply to licensed Muharram and Safar processions/mjalis including traditional ones. This order shall come into force from 1st of Muharram.
