GUJRANWALA: The criminals involved in killing of a three-year baby girl after kidnapping and raping her in Gujranwala, could not be arrested as yet, Geo News reported Sunday.
However, Inspector Abdul Jabbar has been arrested for his negligence and allegedly abetting the accused.
Owing to the strong protest, Regional Police Officer Tariq Yasin met the victim’s parents and promised an exemplary punishment for the alleged murderers.
The RPO suspended SHO Mian Jabbar and sent him behind bars for failing to arrest any of the prime suspects.
It should be mentioned here that the three-year-old girl, who went missing from her house at Tajpur three days ago, was found dead on Saturday. Her body was recovered from a bag lying on a heap of garbage.
Relatives of minor Samavia, daughter of Sajjad Butt, staged a protest demonstration against the police at Garjakh on Saturday. They also blocked traffic at Nawab Chowk for quite some time.
Sajjad Butt had lodged a complaint with the Garjakh police fearing that some Afghans living in his mohallah had kidnapped his daughter. However, the police allegedly took no action to recover the girl or arrest any suspect.
Earlier, DIG Tariq Masood suspended Garjakh SHO Mian Abdul Jabbar on the charge of negligence. He had been suspended thrice on various charges during the last few months.
Also, the families of the accused have been arrested.
