COAS thanks PM Yildirim for Turkish support to Pakistan at world fora

The two figures discuss regional security and commonality of challenges facing the two brotherly countries

ANKARA/RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa Thursday called on Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim and thanked him for his country's support to Pakistan at various international fora, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The two figures discussed matters relating to regional security and commonality of challenges facing the two brotherly countries, the ISPR said in a statement.

The Turkish premier appreciated Pakistan's positive role in the region as well as in the Muslim world. He reiterated Turkish support for Pakistan's stance on Kashmir, the statement read.

General Bajwa thanked PM Yildirim saying Pakistan and Turkey share same stance on many issues.

The army chief said that Pakistan supports Turkey's position on Cyprus and its efforts against terrorism, it added.

Earlier on Wednesday, the COAS, who arrived on an official visit to Turkey on June 20, held meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, defence minister and senior officials of the Turkish armed forces.

General Bajwa discussed matters of mutual interest and regional security with them.

The two sides also agreed upon potential for cooperation in the field of security policies, defence production and human resource training.
