ISLAMABAD: The chief justice of Pakistan took suo motu notice on Wednesday of Balochistan MPA Abdul Majeed Achakzai running over a traffic policeman to death in Quetta.

Notices would be issued to people named in the case, after which the case will be scheduled for hearing in the apex court.

Usually, notices are issued within a day or two of the court action, but a specific date in the policeman's killing has not yet been announced.

A few days ago, Majeed Achakzai ran his vehicle over a traffic sub-inspector, Haji Ataullah, killing him. After the footage of the incident went viral, police took action. Later, the MPA was presented in the court, where he was taken without any handcuffs at his first hearing. Later, at his second appearance, the court placed him in a five-day police remand.

While expressing anger over coverage of the incident, Achakzai said the media could not obtain the video of the explosion that took place in Quetta on June 23, but got their hands on an accident footage.

"Had the police called [the media persons] beforehand? Shameless people," said the MPA.

Later, Geo News obtained some photos pertaining to the case. In one of the photos, the MPA is seen sitting on the driving seat of the vehicle that ran the policeman over. In the other one, Majeed Achakzai is seen talking to people standing outside his jail, where an air cooler is placed.
