KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar has strongly condemned the anti-Pakistan activities of Nadeem Nusrat, and expressed disassociation of his party with the London-based leader.
Speaking at a press conference here on Friday, Dr Sattar said he strongly condemns Nusrat's meeting with anti-Pakistan lobbies in his recent visit to the United States. The MQM-P leader called the activities of Nusrat a "continuation of August 22 policies".
Dr Sattar warned the MQM founder against misusing the Mohajir name, saying that audio statements from London and Nusrat's meeting with anti-Pakistan elements were not in the favour of the Mohajir community.
“Activities of Nadeem Nusrat are not in the favor of Mohajirs, neither do they represent the aspirations of the Mohajir people. We cannot give permission to Nadeem Nusrat to meeting with anti-Pakistan lobbies and conspire against Pakistan, its people, and its army in the name of Mohajirs.”
“No Mohajir in his right state of mind can accept that any state institution was behind the murder of Amjad Sabri, the plane crash in which Junaid Jamshed died, or the unfortunate accident of Ahmedpur Sharqiya," Dr Sattar said in response to a recent controversial audio statement made by Nusrat.
“Concocted...stories have nothing to do with reality,” the MQM-Pakistan leader said.
He added that Nadeem Nusrat "does not have the mandate of the people of Pakistan.”
Sattar's press conference follows Nusrat's recent meeting with US Congressmen Dana Rohrabacher and Ted Poe, who are known to have a track record of campaigning and lobbying against the Pakistani state.
Dana Rohrabacher is known for being on the pay of Indian lobbyists and a few years back demanded a referendum to be held in Balochistan.
Nusrat and Rohrabacher met for three hours and in a joint statement alleged that Pakistan was “sponsoring extremist groups as proxies in the region”.
The MQM-London confirmed Nusrat's meeting with Ted Poe at the Capitol Hill and his following speech against Pakistan.
Moreover, Dana Rohrabacher is known for being on the pay of Indian lobbyists. Congressman Ted Poe, who is known to be linked with the Indian lobby, invited the attention of the US government towards alleged human rights violations.
In a statement, the MQM-London accused Pakistan of “suppressing” Mohajirs and demanded cutting of US aid to Pakistan.
Ted Poe told the Congress that he was raising the issue because the “World Muhajir Congress has written a letter to the United States Congress”.
It is understood that the World Muhajir Council is linked with the MQM-London and its press releases have been issued from MQM-London’s office and from the official MQM email addresses.
