MULTAN: At least seven people were killed and 24 injured on Sunday when a passenger van caught fire near Head Muhammadwala, rescue officials informed.

The van caught fire due to a gas cylinder explosion, said officials. The passenger carrying vehicle was coming from Sarwar Chowk towards Multan.

According to rescue officials, the wounded were shifted to Nishtar Hospital. Four among those injured are said to be in a critical condition.

All the deceased, which included women and children, were buried in their native town of Muzaffargarh. 

On June 29, a vehicle travelling to Faisalabad from Jaranwala caught fire due to an alleged CNG cylinder leak in Shahkot, Nanakana Sahib.

At least two women and a child died as a result of the fire.

Passersby rescued the people from the burning car and transferred them to a hospital. 

Fire erupts in wood warehouse in Multan

Earlier, a fire erupted in a wood warehouse in Multan Sunday afternoon.

Two boilers caught fire at the warehouse where wooden doors are prepared, the police said.

Firefighters were engaged in dousing the fire at the time this report was published.
