ISLAMABAD: Hussain Nawaz, the elder son of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, left for Doha, Qatar earlier today.

According to sources, Hussain departed on a Qatar Airways flight from the federal capital at approximately 10am.

On July 4, Hussain made his sixth appearance before the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) which lasted for around six hours.

The Prime Minister’s Political Adviser Asif Kirmani has pleaded the JIT time and again has to record the statement of Qatari Prince Hamad bin Jassim. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, he asked the Supreme Court to order the JIT to travel to Doha and record the prince’s statement, as "failure to do so would make the JIT report the most controversial one ever".

The Qatari prince’s letter, admitted to the Supreme Court during the Panama Papers case, had provided a money trail into the Sharif family’s international assets, revealing a ‘long-standing personal and business relationship’ with the Sharif family.

The royal family member had earlier refused the JIT’s plea to come to Pakistan for recording of his statement.
