Police kill one suspect, detain three in Karachi; 3 convicts hanged in Sargodha

KARACHI: One suspect was killed during a police encounter late Monday night on Lyari's Mirza Adam Khan Road, Geo News reported. A policeman was also injured during the exchange of fire.

Constable Muhammad Ali received a gunshot wound in his hand due to suspects' retaliatory firing, police officials said.

The law enforcement agencies also detained a suspect in Lyari's gang war from the Phool Patti Lane, sources revealed.

The arrestee – identified as Chota Muslim – has been involved in selling drugs, sources stated, adding that police also recovered a large amount of contraband from the suspect.

According to the sources, Muslim was running Baba Ladla Group's drug dens.

Two other suspects were taken into custody from Lyari's Agra Taj Colony last night, with police recovering a big stash of weapons with the arrestees' help, sources explained.

The stash of ammunition included Kalashnikov, 8 mm rifles, hand grenades, and bullets, sources added.

Sargodha hanging

Three convicts were put to death by hanging in Sargodha's District Jail, police sources disclosed.

The convicts – named Imran, Yaqoob, and Ghulam Rasool – had killed four people during a robbery back in 2008, jail officials said.
