QUETTA: Youm-e-Ashur was observed peacefully with religious reverence and solemnity in the provincial metropolis here on Friday.

The 10th Muharram central procession was taken out from Rehmatullah Chowk of Alamdar Road which was led by acting president Balochistan Shia Conference Daud Agha, chief of Hazara Jirga Qayyum Changezi and others.

The procession after marching on its traditional routes of Alamdar Road , Mizan Chowk, Liaquat Bazar, Junction Chowk, Prince Road , Mikangi Road and Saeed Ahmed Road culminated at Punjabi Imambargah in the evening.

Stringent security checks had been observed on routes of the mourning processions. To ensure security additional contingent of law enforcers including Police, Frontier Corps and Balochistan Constabulary were deployed.

Rescue service, bomb disposal squad and ambulances of district hospitals were also standby on main points of the route but except minor injuries no casualty was reported.

Army aviation helicopter hovered over the sky all the day for aerial surveillance of the procession. "Sabeels" were installed for the devotees of the procession. After having offered the Zuhar and Asar prayer procession culminated peacefully at their respective Imambargahs.
