FC soldier martyred in explosion on Peshawar-Khyber Agency border

Another soldier was injured in the incident; explosive material was placed near a check post

PESHAWAR: One Frontier Constabulary soldier was martyred while another was injured when an explosion occurred near the border between Peshawar and Khyber Agency Sunday morning.

The deceased soldier has been identified as Riaz while the injured as Saqib.

According to sources, the incident took place in Aka Khel area of Khyber Agency, which is situated adjacent to Peshawar, on the other side of Frontier Road. 

A few days ago, an explosion occurred in Hayatabad area of Peshawar, claiming the life of a Frontier Corps major.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations, four soldiers were also injured in that blast.

The bomber was said to have targeted the Frontier Corps vehicle. 

The attacks have come days after the army started an operation in Rajgal valley of Khyber Agency.

The first phase of the operation, Khyber-4 has been completed, the ISPR on Saturday.
