SAHIWAL: A major mishap was averted on Wednesday as an LPG tanker drove over a railway track in Sahiwal after its brakes failed, railways officials said.

The police immediately cordoned off the area in the presence of bomb disposal squad and rescue teams.

A heavy crane was called to the site of the incident to remove the tanker from the railway track.

Trains delayed

Traffic on the down lane to Karachi was suspended with immediate effect as a result of the accident, railway officials said.

Khyber Mail en route Karachi was stopped at Sahiwal Railway Station.
