Traffic accident claims eight lives in Hassanabdal

Eight injured shifted to Taxila THQ; six in critical condition

RAWALPINDI: Eight people died in a van-truck collision on Hassanabdal Road in Attock early Sunday.

According to the police, a speeding truck crashed into a van, en route to Rawalpindi from Peshawar on the GT Road. As a result of the collision, the van crashed into a junction of gas pipelines following which it caught fire. However, rescue teams were able to douse the fire. 

Police said eight people have been injured in the accident, of which six are said to be in critical condition.

The deceased and injured have been taken to Taxila and Hassanabdal Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals. 

The traffic on the GT Road was said to be operating smoothly as the incident occurred on the side of the road.
