ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will leave for Lahore from Islamabad on August 9 via GT Road.
The decision was taken in a meeting of PML-N leadership held at Punjab House.
Asif Kirmani said the route was changed on after demands by PML-N’s local leaders and MNAs. Nawaz would make his first stay at Jhelum, where the former prime minister is expected to address a public gathering.
Nawaz’s next stop on GT Road will be Gujranwala.
Earlier, the PML-N chief, along with family members and aides, departed his residence in Changla Gali and was greeted by scores of supporters in Bharakahu on his way to Punjab House.
Last Sunday, the former premier vacated the Prime Minister House and proceeded to Murree along with family members.
