BAHAWALPUR: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has called on the lawyers’ community and the public at large to play their part in strengthening the judiciary.

Addressing an event here earlier today, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah emphasised that a new strategy is needed to improve the country’s judicial system, which he likened to the nation’s “mother” and its pride.

“I urge everyone, including [lawyers’ community], to do their bit in strengthening the judiciary. We are here to solve people’s problems and we [must continue doing so] in this noble profession,” he said.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah urged the young lawyers to “work diligently and take this noble institution forward”.

Today marks the first anniversary of August 8, 2016 Quetta Civil Hospital suicide bombing, which killed 73 people including 56 lawyers and left scores injured.

The Balochistan High Court Bar Association announced a three-day strike to mark the occasion and is observing ‘black day’ to mourn the tragedy.
