LAHORE: The outpatient department of Services Hospital in the provincial capital remained closed on Wednesday, ninth day of the Young Doctors Association strike.

The OPDs are closed despite appointment of new doctors after at least 70 were dismissed for being absent from duty. Besides, operations scheduled earlier were also facing delays due to the strike.

However, operations continued at Sir Ganga Ram and Mayo hospitals, according to the health department.

Other than Lahore, strike also continued in other cities of the province.

In Multan, doctors were on duty only in the emergency wards of hospitals, while patients remained sans facilities due to the strike.

The strike has not only delayed operations but has also caused deaths of patients who could not be provided timely treatment.
