MULTAN: As their strike entered its 11th day on Friday, young doctors were only performing duties at the emergency wards of government hospitals in Multan, boycotting work in other departments.
According to the health department, senior doctors were working in the departments boycotted by the young doctors.
But as the state of affairs at medical facilities remain unstable, patients continue to suffer.
While talking to Geo News, the patients and their attendants complained that the protesting doctors have private clinics that they are more concerned for.
The attendants alleged these doctors call strikes and stay away from work at government hospitals, making money at their private clinics.
Besides health facilities in Multan, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) strike continues in Faisalabad, at Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan and District Headquarters Hospital Gujranwala. However, at the latter facility, young doctors observed a partial strike, by closing down work between 11am and 2pm.
According to the medical superintendent of DHQ Gujranwala, senior doctors were working in the outpatient department.
Work continues to be affected at hospital despite new doctors being hired by the health department.
The dismissal of at least 70 protesting doctors called for the need to hire more.
