Several suspects held in raids across country

KARACHI/LAHORE: The member of a political party was arrested in a raid conducted by law enforcement agencies in Karachi's Azizabad vicinity.

The suspect is accused of aiding criminals and carrying out illegal activities for the political party. Sources said that Waseem arrived in Karachi from Belgium a few days ago and is close to the founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. 

Authorities also arrested seven criminals from Orangi Town and Gulberg areas of the metropolis.

In a separate incident, two suspected burglars were captured and tortured by citizens in Karachi's Gizri locality, following which they were handed over to the police.

Meanwhile, in different raids across Lahore, police arrested 11 suspects from Batapur and 11 others from Hafizabad. Contraband and weapons were seized from the arrested individuals, police said.

Four suspects were also taken into police custody in Khanewal.
