Next course of action discussed in Raiwind meeting: Saad Rafique

LAHORE: Several important decisions were made during a meeting chaired by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence on Wednesday. 

Addressing the media following the meeting, Railways Minister Saad Rafique said the party's legal experts and those that appear on the media regularly to give the party's point of view were present in the meeting.

He said party leaders will be holding a press conference at the Lahore Press Club soon to give a detailed briefing on the outcome of today's meeting. 

Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair, federal ministers Zahid Hamid, Saad Rafique, and Danial Aziz, Senator Pervez Rashid, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, the former premier's lawyer Khawaja Harris and adviser Irfan Siddiqui, among others, attended the meeting. 

Several important decisions were expected to be made in the meeting with regards to the present political situation in the country as well as Nawaz's next course of action following his disqualification as the prime minister, according to well-informed sources.  

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi held a meeting with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief at his Raiwind residence.

Shehbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also attended the meeting.

Various issues of national importance came under discussion in the meeting, said sources. In addition, Prime Minister Abbasi briefed Nawaz on his meetings with lawmakers during his visits to various parts of the country.

The premier, presently in Saudi Arabia, is expected to chair a meeting of the National Security Committee tomorrow after US President Donald Trump's policy speech on South Asia.
