Four robbers killed in alleged police encounter in Lahore

LAHORE: Four robbers were allegedly killed in a police encounter on Saturday in the city's Harbanspura area, while two managed to escape.

Police acting on a tip-off that the robbers had created a blockade around the area reached at the site and were fired upon by the robbers. The robbers were killed in retaliatory fire by police, while two people were injured in the cross-fire.

The robbers were wanted in various robbery and murder incidents. They were also the involved in the killing of a man during robbery on August 24 in the area, police said.

The robbers had on Wednesday shot dead a man during a robbery and snatched Rs0.2 million from him.

Faisal was enroute to the cattle market to buy a sacrificial animal for Eid-ul-Azha when he encountered the two robbers.

Police claim the robbers opened fire at him after the victim resisted the robbery and fled the crime scene immediately with the cash. Faisal died on spot.
