Road accident in India kills 34: report
NEW DELHI: A collision in northern India between a bus and a mini-truck carrying mourners returning from a funeral killed 34 people on Saturday, a report said.

The accident, which left 30 injured, took place near the town of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh state, around 200 kilometres (120 miles) southeast of Delhi, the Press Trust of India news agency quoted District Magistrate Amit Gupta as saying.

The driver of the bus was killed in the incident, a police official told PTI.

India has the highest annual road death toll in the world, according to the World Health Organisation, with accidents caused by speeding, careless driving, poor roads, overcrowding and poor vehicle maintenance.
