ISLAMABAD: The disqualification reference filed against Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider was rejected on Monday.

The reference was rejected on the basis of lack of evidence against the AJK prime minister by the speaker of the Legislative Assembly.

The reference can not be sent to the chief election commissioner on basis of a media talk, said the speaker.

References were filed against Haider's disqualification by opposition parties in the Legislative Assembly

Earlier, Haider had clarified that his statement on Kashmiris being uncertain about siding with Pakistan after Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification was said so out of concern for the country’s current scenario.

He had also said that a video of the session was available and could be referred to for clarification while condemning the manner in which his remarks were presented.
