CHARSADDA: A pile-up involving 14 cars and lorries on Charsadda-Peshawar motorway near Swat River have been caused by a bout of heavy fog killing two and injuring dozens others.
According to the police, the accident occurred six kilometer away from Charsadda. The injured and the dead have been shifted to the DHQ Hospital Charsadda and other Peshawar hospitals.
Traffic on the Charsadda-Peshawar motorway was totally paralyzed shortly after the fog fell and caused a series of accidents.
"I couldn't see anything and didn't have a second to press the brake," said a driver, who suffered a head injury in a crash.
While some blamed the fog for their misfortune, others questioned whether those who manage the highway should be held partly responsible for the accidents.
In other parts of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa freezing conditions and heavy snow is causing problems with major roads being forced to close.
