The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) sent notices to members of both Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Monday for violation of the code of conduct for the NA-120 by-election.
The PML-N members served notices include former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law, MNA Captain (retd) Safdar, State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry, MNA Maiza Hameed, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed and MPA Saiful Malook Khokhar.
Earlier, the ECP had admonished Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin for violating the code.
Similarly, the PTI members were issued notices for violating the ECP rules, including opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, Mehmoodur Rasheed and Sadia Sohail.
Moreover, the ECP has stated that all electoral campaigning will cease on the night between September 15 and 16.
Meanwhile, the Jamiat Ahle Hadith has announced its support for PML-N’s Kulsoom Nawaz. The decision came after a meeting between Senator Sajid Mir and Maryam Nawaz, who is spearheading her mother’s campaign while she undergoes medical treatment in London.
Earlier, the Pakistan Muslim League-Q and Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen announced their support for PTI’s Dr Yasmin Rashid.
The by-election is due on September 17.
