KARACHI: After remarkable success in Azad Kashmir, Rawalpindi and Sargodha, PSL team Lahore Qalandars reached another feat on Monday by successfully completing open trials for the Jazz Rising Stars program in Layyah district of Punjab, where more than 7,500 aspiring Qalandars attempted to become part of the Qalandars family.

The two-day trials at Layyah saw a massive response from young cricketers, who came to showcase their cricketing skills, and the selection panel spotted some great talent who have the potential to serve the country in the future.

“The talent from Layyah was outstanding as two local Layyah boys were observed bowling at a speed of 130 plus kph. Layyah was an untapped area but showcased some extremely talented and skilled players under the watchful eyes of Aqib Javed and professional coaches,” Atif Rana, COO of Lahore Qalandars told Geo.tv.

“After a clear first day of trials, heavy rain was witnessed during the night but as soon as the pitches dried out, the trials resumed on the second day. The response from Layyah was overwhelming as around 7,500 participants turned out to show skill, potential, and talent,” he added.

The selection panel, headed by Aaqib Javed, DCO of Lahore Qalandars, shortlisted 16 players who will represent Layyah district in the rising stars tournament later this month.

Players selected from Layyah are Mirwas Khan (Right Hand Batsman), Aqib Javaid (Left Hand Batsman), Mudasir Nagi (Left Hand Batsman), Skanar Khan (Right Hand Batsman), Usman (Right Hand Batsman), M.
