Two more dead due to dengue in Peshawar

Both the deceased belonged to Peshawar’s Tehkal area

PESHAWAR: Dengue claimed two more lives on Wednesday in Peshawar, taking the total tally of overall deaths due to the disease in the province to 23.

According to hospital officials, one woman named Muslima, who was being treated at Khyber Teaching Hospital, and a man named Pervez, succumbed to dengue on Wednesday. 

Pervez was under treatment at the Hayyatabad Medical Complex.

Both the deceased belonged to Peshawar’s Tehkal area, according to hospital officials. 

Earlier, it emerged that more than 6,000 people have tested positive for the virus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Authorities found dengue larvae in water samples in various areas of the city, including Tehkal, Safaid Dheri, Shadi Peer and Palosi.

The Peshawar district administration has said several teams were working towards eradicating the dengue virus and have fumigated over 15,000 houses so far in an attempt to kill dengue mosquitoes.

Moreover, the local administration has decided to begin a dengue awareness campaign in all edcational institutes from tomorrow.
