HYDERABAD: Preparations are nearly complete for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) first show of strength in Hyderabad today.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan is expected to address a public gathering of the party in Hyderabad's Hatari Bypass area at 6pm today.

PTI's Haleem Adil Sheikh claimed the rally will be historic and lead to the elimination of corruption in the country.

Imran has earlier addressed rallies in Sukkur, Dadu and Kashmore, among others, but never in Hyderabad.

Organisers of the rally — expected to start at 4pm — claimed more than 50,000 people will attend today's gathering.

The PTI chief will be accompanied by party leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen, as well as Awami Muslim League chief and ally Sheikh Rasheed.

Strict security measures are in place to secure the event, according to the authorities, for which 300 policemen and other officials have been deployed.
