PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has taken notice of CCTV footage showing a family of four releasing alleged dengue mosquito from a shopping bag in a ward of the Hayatabad Medical Complex.

According to the hospital administration, the family on Monday was spotted by the CCTV team releasing the mosquitoes and was ordered to hand over the bag.

On being questioned by the hospital, the family said that they were promised a monetary reward by “someone in their village” if they agreed to release the mosquito in the hospital’s ward. The hospital after confiscating the bag let them go, brushing it aside as a non-issue.

It was only after reports of the incident surfaced in media that the health department issued notices to and sought a reply from the hospital.
