KARACHI: For the first time in more than 20 years, the Bohra Community in the city is hosting their spiritual leaders from Mumbai, India, and tens of thousands of other Bohras from around the world for the holy month of Muharram.

Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, arrived in the city on September 14. Since then he has conducted a series of sermons on different themes including justice, brotherhood, forgiveness, and piety.

Dr Saifuddin, who travelled from India, is expected to narrate events of historical and cultural significance and discuss issues impacting the community.

For Ashra, the community has built extensions to their main mosque on II Chandrigar road to double the capacity of the complex.

Moreover, the hotels near Bohra community's Taheri Masjid have been completely booked and bus companies have also been hired to ferry attendees from different parts of the city.

It is expected that the traffic operations near II Chundrigar Road will remain disputed for the next two weeks.
