MULTAN: Partial strike was observed in the city and Vehari on Friday on the call of religious parties against the proposed amendment in the blasphemy law.
In Multan, cantonment traders, traders union and small traders association took to streets and chanted slogans for Tahafuz-e-Namoos Risalat (SAW). They vowed they would drope very blood for the protection of the law and they would ready to sacrifice everything for this cause.
The traders and clerics burnt tyres and blocked roads. They passed resolutions to press the government to refrain from making any amendment in the blasphemy law.
In Vehari, rallies were held by religious-political parties including JUI-F, Jamat-e-Islami, Sunni Itehad Council and the PML-Q. Moulana Abdul Khaliq Wattoo, Javed Iqbal, Hafiz Shabir, Malik Akhtar Nadeem and other speakers addressed the participants.
