KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday claimed that Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz's (PML-N) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is not ready to "accept that he is the prime minister [of this country]".

Lashing out at the premier, Qureshi insisted that "Abbasi himself says that Nawaz Sharif is the prime minister".

The two parties came head to head in the recently conducted NA-120 by-poll, where PML-N stood victorious in securing what is termed as its 'home seat.'

Taking an aim at the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), the PTI leader said the time has come "to get rid off corrupt leaders in Sindh".

"The people of Sindh are not happy with [the performance] of the PPP," Mehmood claimed during a press conference, adding that many of PPP's members have joined PTI.

He said that the PPP was only able to secure an "insignificant 1,414 votes" in the NA-120 by-polls.

The PML-N and PPP have lost their standing, Qureshi claimed, promising that he will present all the 'facts' in front of the parliamentary board.

"PTI is the product of PML-N and PPP's failures," he said. "The nation now looks to PTI [for a better future]."

PTI leader Asad Umar on Saturday said that he could foresee elections taking place soon in the country.

"With the finance minister running away from the country and a bench probing into the foreign minister's iqama case, how can [the PML-N] govern the country," Umar said.

He urged his party workers to prepare for elections, in his address at the worker's convention in Islamabad.
