ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday said the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will return to the country soon.
"Nawaz Sharif will return to the country very soon, as soon as Begum's [Kulsoom Nawaz] health stabilises a bit," said Sadiq.
When asked regarding the recent meeting between Maryam Nawaz, Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz, Sadiq said there were no differences between the Sharif family.
"There are no differences in the family. I feel that in political families if the family members meet each other that itself becomes news."
The speaker also touched upon Imran Khan's ongoing case in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), he said that the ECP is a forum which should be respected.
"I feel the ECP is a forum which should be respected," said Sadiq while talking to the media.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leader has non-bailable arrest warrants issued against him and has said he will appear 'voluntarily' before the commission on October 26.
The speaker of the national assembly also said, referring to Capt (retd) Safdar, that if any lawmaker is to be arrested, the speaker is informed of it.
"If the NAB wants to arrest him, they would inform me such as is the procedure."
Maryam Nawaz, earlier this week, held an important meeting with Shehbaz Sharif after six months, sources said, where MNA Hamza Shehbaz was also present.
Maryam was called after the Punjab chief minister's meeting with senior party leaders, where she was apprised of all the circumstances.
Sources said members of the Sharif family held a discussion on running political affairs in the absence of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
Shehbaz had reportedly advised the former first daughter that politics of confrontation would do no good and hence no statements should be issued against the institutions.
