PESHAWAR: The education secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been summoned over complaint of inefficient transport facilities to students of private schools despite administrations charging a high fee even for to take children to and from schools in Peshawar.

During the hearing on Wednesday in Peshawar High Court — by the bench of justices Waqar Ahmad Seth and Younis Taheem — the petition of 30 to 40 parents of private school students was taken up. According to the parents, private schools increase the fees without any check and balance. Their complaint states that the schools administrations also charge a separate amount for transportation, despite which children in the school vehicles are seen hanging on the edge and also often sitting on the roof.

While giving remarks on the complaint, Justice Waqar Ahmad said it was a matter of concern that students had to commute to and from school sitting on the roofs of vehicles. He added action should be taken against administrations of private schools across KP that were charging a high amount and that the increase should not go unchecked.

Therefore, the court summoned the secretary in the KP education department.
