LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreen-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan launched membership drive in Lahore on Thursday.

While addressing workers convention in Lahore, he said  as soon as general elections end, intra-party elections will be held on the basis of PTI's membership card.

Urging the need for meritocracy in the country, he remarked that the system in Pakistan is extremely unjust for the poor. "Children of the poor have no opportunity to improve their lives or get better jobs."

He also asked party workers, why do you think most Pakistanis are looking for opportunities to travel abroad? He reasoned that it is because other countries reward those who work hard.

"I have seen farmers become billionaires abroad. The case is not the same in Pakistan. Here, a farmer's son will also become a farmer. He has no other option," he added.

"We want a Pakistan where hard work is rewarded."

The policies formulated by the current government seek to favour the rich and powerful, but the policies of Naya Pakistan will focus on alleviating poverty and empower the powerless, he shared.

"We have to focus on dispensing economic, judicial and educational justice," he said.
