ISLAMABAD: The Pakistani government on Monday condemned the killing of two Chinese nationals, said a statement released by the Foreign Office (FO).

"We condemn the abduction and murder of two innocent Chinese nationals," said a statement released on Monday.

A DNA test determined the identity of the deceased foreigners, the FO said.

The husband and wife, identified as Li Zang Hing and Ming Leassi Ha, were kidnapped by unidentified men from Quetta’s Jinnah Town earlier this year on May 24.

Their private security guard had sustained injuries after gunmen opened fire on him as he attempted to stop the kidnapping.

The foreign nationals had gone to eat at a local restaurant when four unidentified men took them away in a car.

The couple was working at a Korean centre near Jinnah Town and had been teaching Korean language to the area residents for more than a year.

"The DNA reports have confirmed that the two persons killed in Balochistan in June 2017 were the same two Chinese nationals, who were kidnapped from Quetta in May, 2017," confirmed the FO.

It did not give further detail on when or how their bodies were recovered.
