KARACHI: Speedster Shoaib Akhtar, on Friday, surprised his fans in Karachi by taking a round of city on a motorbike.

Akhar, 42, travelled from Karachi Press Club to SMCHS in Karachi via Electronics Market, Quaid’s Mazar and Tariq Road.

Although, the journey was part of a promotional campaign for a ride-hailing company, it gave a pleasant surprise to Shoaib’s fan on the streets of Karachi.

“I couldn’t believe when I first saw him riding a sports-bike near Tariq Road, I was so happy to see him among fans and letting people click selfies with him,” said Ashar who runs a shop in Tariq Road.

Shoaib, who was once the fastest bowler in the cricketing world, said that it was a great experience to ride two-wheelers once again.

“Motorbikes have played an important role in making me Shoaib Akhtar,” said the veteran of 46 Tests and 163 ODIs.

“I mostly travelled to stadiums on motorbikes in the early days of my cricketing career,” he revealed.

He also emphasised the use of safety gear while riding two-wheelers.

“Helmet is a must when you are on two-wheelers,” he said.

“It is sad to see so many people losing their life only because they don’t care about safety while commuting on motorcycles,” he concluded.
