RAWALPINDI: Indian forces on Tuesday evening resorted to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control (LoC), according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The latest incident of cross-border firing took place in the Chirikot sector of the area.
Indian firing targetted a village in the area, added the ISPR.
Earlier last week, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa had also visited the Chirikot sector along the LoC.
During the visit, Abbasi had condemned the unprofessional approach, of targetting civilians residing in the area, by Indian forces and reiterated that Pakistan would continue to provide political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people for their struggle.
Incidents of firing from across the border have increased after the right-wing government of Narendra Modi came to power and has caused significant damage to the material and human loss. Indian forces have used medium and heavy weapons in recent times to target the civilian population of AJK.
