LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested three suspected human smuggling agents from Sialkot and Gujranwala on the identification of families of people killed in Balochistan recently.
A total of 15 bullet-ridden bodies were recovered from Buleda area of Kech district in Turbat, Balochistan earlier this week. The victims hailed from various areas of Punjab.
The men are said to have been deceived by human smugglers that they will be taken to Europe through Iran after payment of the 'fees'.
The FIA arrested Tanveer from Sambrial town in Sialkot on the identification of families of Zafar and Ghafoor, who were killed in the incident.
Two more agents, Zafar Iqbal and Haider, were arrested after identification by the heirs of Ghulam Rabbani and Zulfiqar.
Condemning the incident, Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif termed the Turbat incident barbaric.
He has also announced monetary aid of Rs1 million for each family affected by the incident.
Vowing to root out travel agencies and criminal rings involved in human smuggling, Shehbaz said that the Punjab Police will work with the FIA to bring the perpetrators to justice.
