Rawalpindi to be made Green City, says Afridi
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Environment Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has said that with the collaboration of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) the Rawalpindi would be made a Green City.

He said that Ministry, RCCI and the educational institutes would take part in the tree plantation drive to reduce the pollution. He said this while talking to the RCCI delegation led by its President S.

Ali Raza Saeed Shah during a meeting held here at his office on Friday. Senior Vice President Main Muhammad Ateeq, former President Asad Mashadi, Members Executive Committee Younas Dar, Imtiaz Chaudhery and Major ® Noman Khan were also present on the occasion.

Afridi said that Ministry and Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) would also cooperate in the renewable energy sector by using the industrial and hospitals waste. He said that it would reduce the pollution level and would also fulfill the energy requirements of the local industry as well.

He lauded the services of RCCI for the betterment of the business community and the uplift of the region. He ensured his full cooperation to the President RCCI in this regard.

Speaking on the occasion President RCCI Ali Raza Saeed Shah said that owing to immense increase in the traffic the pollution has amplified a lot and it has harmed the atmosphere of the city. “Tree plantation should be enhanced in the green belt and entry of smoke omitting vehicles should be banned in the City to reduce the pollution”, he suggested.

He appraised the Minister’s suggestions for renewable energy project and said that it would boost the business activities and improve the environment friendly atmosphere in the region.

Ali Raza said that RCCI always support the business friendly policies of the government and environment friendly policy would also be supported. He on the behalf of Rawalpindi Chamber ensured the Minister for his full cooperation.
